Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the Wellington Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Inc,
held at the Valley Club, Daly Street, Lower Hutt
at 7.30pm on Tuesday 5th October 2004.

Apologies

Minutes from previous AGM – accepted.

Reports
President:  Kris Ericksen Report tabled. Mention made regards developments at Paekak, Subdivision at Climie, possible future site at Catchpool.
Paragliding Safety Officer: Colin Isles. Tabled. Noted that Colin stood down in latter part of year. Harry Emms stood in. One accident, improvement regards WOF’s.
Hang Gliding Safety Officer: Fraser Bull. Report  quiet year. WOF’s yet to be done.
Newsletter Editor. Request for material, lacking as usual!
Secretary / Treasurer: Grant Tatham. Distributed copies of the Financial Summary for the year to 30 September 2004, and club budget.  Main points – funding grant successful for HG Nats - $8000. Applications for Tandem HG reserve also successful. Operating deficit overall of $104.03. Moved that the report be accepted as tabled – Nom Kris, sec Fraser. Unan.

Financial Budget 2003 - 2004
Budget for the coming year. Balance should remain at the same level with the same subs. unanimous vote to hold subs again at $35 for club.

WestPac Trust (Helicopter) Donation
Amount budgeted is $200.00.
Motion to donate the same amount this year Nom – Kris, sec - Ian

Peter Button Trophy
(Longest Cross-Country over the year by local pilot, in club area.)
Recipients:    Shane Morton / Ian Bowie

Rick Fogel Trophy:
(Member that has best provided the ideals of the sport of Hang Gliding & Paragliding
Recipient:Grant Tatham

Ice Eagle Trophy:
(Most Improved Pilot)
Recipient:Andrew Bridger

AGM meeting closed at 9.30 p.m.


General Business

Paekakariki  
Developments at time of meeting - the Perkins had banned club members entering onto their property

Kris to notify NZHGPA/Airborn. Notice to be installed at the fence asap. Kris to contact Lloyd re: weatherstation message.
Suggested that future option could be some form of easement or leases - but things would need to "blow over" in the short term.

Motion – that the club continue to oppose the subdivision on the escarpment – Against 3-11. 1 abstention
Motion -  that the submission be withdrawn – for 11-3.  1 abstention

Paekakariki lookout. Kapiti Council about to rebuild the fence. Suggested that we keep in touch with the Council re having a section of fence that is “droppable”.
Subcommittee comprising of Kris, Fraser, Andred to liase with the Council.
Kris to also write letter to Mrs Perkins, and organise Xmas present (with Lloyd).

Funding Application
Motion – that the club applies for community funding for Paragliding Competitions.
Proposed – Kris E, sec Teresa. Unanimous.

Video Purchase
Proposal that the club purchase another Video for the library – Never Ending Thermal
Proposed – Grant, sec Nigel.  Unanimous.

CAA Weather Information Services.
Now available to members of the NZHGPA. Kris to forward info regards access.

Christmas Gifts to landowners
Reminder from Grant to organise gifts for landowners.
Grant – Oystershell, Herricks training hill, Bull Hill, Whangamoana, Dalefield.
Terry – Bennetts Hill, Kourarau (2), Longbush training hill.
Lloyd/Kris – Paekak Mr & Mrs Perkins
Kris – Harry Memelink (Paekak airstrip property owner)
Ian Bowie – Mrs. Turksma (Kiwi Ranch), Climie landing owners (Brian Smith & dairy farmer)

Grant to liaise with Teresa re designs for proposed club Tee Shirt.

Membership database to be amended to show current WOF’s

Guy Harding to sort incorrect info on Hang-dog website.

Next Club Meeting – Xmas “function”. TBA.
