MINUTES – CLUB MEETING HELD AT THE VALLEY CLUB, DALY ST, LOWER HUTT,
7.30PM, TUESDAY 1ST  June,  2004

MEMBERS PRESENT – 25

CLIMIE WINDFARM
Murray Kennedy, WRC, gave a presentation of plans for an intended set of wind generators for the Climie area. The towers will provisionally be from above the gliding club to well south of the Climie towers, adjacent to the head of Whitemans Valley. One tower is proposed for between the telecom towers. Pros and cons with the proposal. Cons – inherent risk to aviation, loss of access during construction, (one year??).
Pros – improved access. A new road may be put in from Kaitoke, along the ridge. The road needs to be of a very good quality to allow servicing of the towers. Possible wind information – anemometers are placed on every tower, this info may be made available to the public on the web. Possible improvements to a launch, though the present launch is pretty good (from a HG pilot point of view!). It would be nice to have a nicely grassed flat area for setup, and a loo!
Suggestion made to set up a forum link on the newletter website for ongoing input by members.
