Interim NZHGPA 2012 accounts Back to July newsletter

Hello club Presidents and secretaries.

Last year our accountant was extremely tardy in finalising our
accounts, to the point where we had to have an AGM with very
little notice of our financial position and budget. This produced
serious downstream difficulties.....

To avoid a repeat of this I have created my own set of accounts for clubs to look at before they have their own AGMs. Hopefully we will get the finalised accounts out to you in good time, but as this is outside my control I can't promise it.

Please note, these accounts are subject to change, and we still have to add the NZHGPA bookstore activity into them (usually a small profit each year, thanks to Ewen Tonar) but I expect they will be essentially correct, and culbs should have confidence they can base their votes  at the AGM an what I have provided here. If any significant errors are found between now and the AGM I will alert clubs immediately.

I have not attached a balance sheet at this stage, but our assets have increased by about $10k since last year. Check out the third sheet on the excel file for a graphic description.

Also of note is my budget. It proposes we will face a $3899 loss next year, due to a combo of a) last year's decision to effectively drop our fees. b) The reinstatement of Airborn magazine, and c)The as yet unspent $3500 budget for a scoping report on a new website. Without this last one-off item it is effectively a fiscally neutral budget.

This scoping report is an ongoing problem for us, as many members are crying out for something to compare to the current Airborn situation before they can decide whether to keep it or not. But after nearly 3 years of waiting we still have nothing to show them. We really need this report to be available to our members before the current Airborn production run ends in 18 months time. Hopefully, (with the greatest respect to the massive amount of time he puts in to more pressing issues), Rob Darby can get this report contracted this year, or at least hand over the job to someone who can get it done.
